Nagpur Police Crackdown: Rave Parties, Foreign Nationals Targeted Ahead of NMC Polls
Nagpur Police Raids Target Rave Parties Before Elections

In a major pre-emptive strike against organized crime and illicit celebrations, the Nagpur Police has launched a rigorous city-wide operation. The drive, strategically timed ahead of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) elections scheduled for January 15, aims to dismantle networks involved in vice and ensure public safety during the New Year period.

City Crime Branch's Surprise Raids on Suspected Venues

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the Nagpur crime branch carried out surprise inspections across multiple locations. Teams focused on hotels, resorts, party lawns, and secluded spots on the city's outskirts where gatherings involving illegal foreign nationals were suspected. The operation specifically looked into reports of so-called 'Russian Nights' events and rave parties, which are allegedly connected to prostitution rings employing foreign nationals.

The visible and aggressive police presence served as a strong deterrent. While the operations did not result in any large-scale arrests, authorities confirmed that the action successfully prevented potential illegal revelry from taking root. Police officials have concurrently made appeals to the public, urging them to celebrate responsibly and avoid excesses.

Rural Police Parallel Offensive and Pre-Poll Measures

In a coordinated effort, the Nagpur rural police, under directives from senior officers, formed 21 dedicated teams. These squads were tasked with scrutinizing resorts, hotels, lounges, and farmhouses in rural pockets around Nagpur. The objective was to identify and stop any unauthorized parties or events in their planning stages, effectively nipping them in the bud.

This crackdown is part of a broader pre-election offensive to secure a fair electoral process. In a parallel action, the city police confiscated 5 kilograms of ganja and other illicit materials. Furthermore, in a move to disrupt criminal networks, police externed seven individuals, including two women, from the city limits. Known criminals across the city are also being kept under tight surveillance as part of these comprehensive security measures.

The combined operations underscore the police department's focus on maintaining law and order and creating a secure atmosphere for both the upcoming civic polls and the New Year festivities.
