In a significant crackdown, the Wadi police in Nagpur apprehended two individuals on Friday for illegally possessing firearms and allegedly using them to spread terror through social media. The arrests highlight ongoing police efforts to curb the illegal arms trade and prevent public intimidation.
Primary Accused Apprehended After Social Media Probe
The police action targeted Jagraj Singh, also known as Paras Singh Narendra Singh Bajwa, a 20-year-old resident of Dattawadi. He was taken into custody around 11 am within the limits of the Wadi police station. The investigation revealed that Bajwa was actively involved in creating and sharing videos on social media platforms. In these videos, he was brandishing a firearm with the apparent intent to instil fear and terror among the general public.
Weapon Recovered from Maternal Uncle in Wardha
During detailed interrogation following his arrest, Bajwa confessed to handing over the illicit weapon to his maternal uncle. The police team then swiftly moved to Talegaon in Wardha district. There, they arrested Sarwan Singh Kattar Singh Randhawa, aged 45, and recovered a pistol along with its magazine from his possession. The recovered firearm is estimated to be worth approximately Rs 30,000.

Both accused have been formally charged under relevant sections of the law for their serious offences. The charges include Sections 3 and 25 of the Arms Act, pertaining to the possession of arms and ammunition with the intent to commit cognisable offences. Additionally, they have been booked under Section 135 of the Maharashtra Police Act for breaching restraining orders previously issued against them.
