Lucknow police have implemented a micro-level security plan for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination scheduled on June 21, aiming to ensure a malpractice-free test. The plan focuses on ground-level scrutiny at exam centres, with a strict personnel ratio: one sub-inspector, two constables, and three women constables for every 480 candidates to oversee checking and frisking.
Massive Police Deployment
Nearly 1,000 police personnel, including ACP-rank officers and armed units, have been deployed for the exercise. A central command-and-control system will monitor all centres, with nodal officers coordinating rapid response in real time. Officials said the calibrated deployment is aimed at ensuring thorough screening without causing delays during peak entry hours.
Exam Details and Timing
The re-exam will see 35,594 candidates appearing at 75 centres across the city. Entry will be allowed between 11 am and 1:30 pm ahead of the 2 pm start, prompting police to focus heavily on gate-level management. JCP (Law and Order) Babloo Kumar stated that frisking teams will be supported by personnel equipped with hand-held metal detectors to detect concealed electronic gadgets and prevent impersonation attempts.
Law and Order Measures
“Separate police teams have been tasked with maintaining law and order both inside and outside centres, ensuring that crowding, touting or last-minute confusion does not disrupt proceedings,” said Kumar. With competitive exams under intense scrutiny following recent paper leak allegations, officials said the focus this time is on visible enforcement and deterrence. SHOs and senior officers will remain on active patrol, conducting surprise inspections to curb any attempt at cheating.
Strict Warnings and Advisory
Police have also warned that possession of mobile phones or any prohibited device will invite strict action. Candidates and parents have been advised to cooperate with security checks and reach centres well in advance to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
