Bengaluru Siblings Face Arrest After Vicious Attack on Delivery Executive
In a disturbing incident highlighting road rage, two Nepalese brothers working in Bengaluru were taken into custody by the police. The arrest came after they allegedly launched a violent physical attack on a food delivery agent. This assault was triggered by a minor traffic collision that occurred on the night of January 4 on Kaggadasapura Main Road in the Byappanahalli area.
Details of the Road Accident and Subsequent Assault
The accused have been identified as Jagat Pradeep, 28, and his younger brother Dharma, 20. The siblings, who are residents of Hoodi, work as a security guard and housekeeping staff member respectively. The incident unfolded when the victim, Dileep Kumar, entered the main stretch from an inner lane on 29th Main Road, Kaggadasapura.
As Kumar rode his gearless scooter, the two brothers rammed into him. The impact caused both siblings to fall onto the road. Instead of resolving the minor accident calmly, the brothers, reportedly enraged by the fall, chose a path of violence. They proceeded to physically thrash Dileep Kumar, even kicking him while he was down.
Public Outrage and Police Action
The brazen act of violence did not go unnoticed. Commuters and passers-by who witnessed the assault strongly condemned the brothers' actions. In a turn of events, the public intervened and beat up the siblings, who subsequently fled the scene to escape the crowd's fury.
The incident gained wider attention after a video of the altercation was circulated on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). Taking suo motu cognizance of the viral video and the serious nature of the offence, the Byappanahalli police swiftly registered a criminal case against the two brothers. The police investigation led to their arrest on Friday night.
This case underscores the growing tensions on Bengaluru's busy roads and the severe consequences of taking the law into one's own hands. The prompt action by the police, initiated by public evidence and outrage, demonstrates a responsive approach to maintaining public order and safety.
