NRI Woman Found Murdered in Amritsar Hotel, Husband Flees Scene
In a shocking incident in Amritsar, an NRI woman named Prabhjot was discovered murdered in a hotel room on Monday. She had arrived from Austria just one week earlier with her husband, Mandeep Singh Dhillon, to participate in a family religious programme. Authorities report that Dhillon is now absconding, evading capture as the investigation unfolds.
Family Alleges Husband Killed Her Over Character Suspicions
Family members from Waraich village in Gurdaspur district have made serious allegations against Dhillon. They claim he murdered Prabhjot after repeatedly questioning her character. Lovepreet Singh, Prabhjot's brother, provided details about the couple's troubled relationship. He stated that his sister moved abroad after her marriage seven years ago in Jethuwal village of Amritsar district.
"Over time, her husband started suspecting her, leading to constant arguments," Lovepreet Singh explained. The suspicions reportedly escalated, creating a tense atmosphere between the couple.
Father Reveals Deceptive Trip and Calls for Justice
Makhan Singh, Prabhjot's father, shared a heartbreaking account of the events. He alleged that his son-in-law deceived the family by claiming they were going out for a trip. Instead, Dhillon took Prabhjot to a hotel in Amritsar where he murdered her.
"We want justice for our daughter," Makhan Singh declared emotionally. He added that Prabhjot had come to India specifically to attend an Akhand Path, a continuous reading of the Guru Granth Sahib, and to celebrate the first Lohri of their son. The tragedy leaves behind a seven-month-old child, as confirmed by Makhan Singh.
Police Confirm Disputes and Launch Manhunt
Assistant Commissioner of Police Lakhwinder Singh provided official updates on the case. Preliminary findings indicate frequent disputes between the couple, supporting the family's allegations of ongoing conflict. The police have registered a murder case based on the evidence and statements collected.
Raids are currently underway across multiple locations to apprehend the absconding accused. Authorities are pursuing all leads to bring Dhillon into custody and ensure a thorough investigation proceeds.
