Two PAC Jawans Dismissed for Robbing Trader in Mathura

Two Provincial Armed Constabulary jawans posted in Agra have been dismissed from service. Officials confirmed the dismissal on Friday. The jawans faced allegations of involvement in a robbery in Mathura.

Details of the Robbery Incident

The dismissed jawans are Lakhmi Chand, aged 28, and Narendra Singh, aged 29. Both men belonged to the 15th Battalion. Police arrested them earlier this month. Their arrest followed a robbery targeting a trader from Hathras.

The trader, Yogesh Kumar, was carrying silver and cash. He got off a train at Mathura Junction Railway Station on December 6. Near the auto stand outside the station, the jawans intercepted him.

They posed as Special Operations Group personnel. The jawans accused Kumar of smuggling ganja. They demanded to check his luggage. When Kumar revealed he carried silver, they intimidated him. The jawans then fled with 3.5 kilograms of silver and 75,000 rupees in cash.

Legal Action and Departmental Inquiry

Mathura Police registered an FIR against the jawans. The case includes Sections 310(2) and 317(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Provisions of the Arms Act also apply. Police informed the commandant of the 15th Battalion about the incident.

Commandant Narendra Kumar Singh stated that a departmental inquiry began after the arrest. The inquiry led to the dismissal of both jawans from service. This action underscores the seriousness of the allegations.

The dismissal serves as a strong message against misconduct within the force. It highlights the commitment to accountability and law enforcement integrity.
