Patna Police Arrest 4, Seize Pistols After Viral Firearm Video
Patna: 4 Arrested, Weapons Seized After Viral Gun Video

Patna police swiftly arrested four individuals and confiscated illegal firearms after a video of a youth flaunting a weapon went viral on social media. The incident, which unfolded in the Gaurichak area, led investigators down a financial trail and exposed a local supply chain.

Viral Video Triggers Police Action

The case came to light on January 6 when a video was uploaded to the Facebook account of Sunny Kumar, a resident of Gaurichak. The clip, which rapidly gained traction online, showed a young man openly displaying a pistol. The alarming footage prompted immediate intervention from the Patna Police's East division.

City SP (East) Parichay Kumar stated that the investigation quickly identified the person filming the video as Sahil Kumar, an acquaintance of Sunny. Upon questioning, Sahil confessed that the weapon actually belonged to Sunny and he had merely borrowed it to make the video.

Raids, Recoveries, and the Money Trail

Acting on this crucial information, police conducted a raid at Sunny Kumar's residence. The operation led to the recovery of one pistol and two live cartridges. Further interrogation of Sunny revealed the involvement of another youth, identified as Krishna, who was allegedly in possession of more weapons.

A subsequent raid at Krishna's house yielded a country-made pistol. As the net widened, questioning led police to a fourth person, Sachin, who pointed to Abhishek as the primary supplier of the illegal arms.

Investigators meticulously traced the financial transactions behind the weapon purchase. They discovered that Sunny Kumar had transferred Rs 10,000 to Krishna via the PhonePe app. Krishna then forwarded the amount to Sachin, who kept a commission of Rs 400 before sending the remaining sum to the absconding supplier, Abhishek.

Arrests Made, Supplier on the Run

In total, the police operation on Thursday resulted in the seizure of two pistols, two live cartridges, and three mobile phones. The authorities have successfully taken Sunny Kumar, Sahil Kumar, Krishna, and Sachin into custody.

However, the alleged main supplier, Abhishek, remains at large. SP Parichay Kumar confirmed that a manhunt is currently underway to apprehend him. The police continue their investigation to determine the full extent of this network and trace the origin of the seized firearms.
