In a significant crackdown on street crime, the Patna Police have announced the arrest of six individuals in two separate criminal cases, while also successfully returning dozens of stolen mobile phones to their rightful owners in a heartening New Year initiative.
Daring Robbery Near Hospital Leads to Five Arrests
Addressing the media on Thursday, City SP (East) Parichay Kumar detailed a brazen incident that occurred on December 29 near a private hospital under the Agamkuan police station limits. According to the police, three miscreants on a motorcycle targeted a pedestrian, robbing him of his mobile phone and Rs 5,000 in cash at gunpoint.
Acting swiftly on the case, police teams managed to track down and apprehend all five accused involved in the crime. The arrested individuals have been identified as Ayush Royal, Annu Kumar, Sunny Kumar, Lavkush Kumar, and Amit Kumar. From them, the police successfully recovered the looted cash, the firearm used in the crime described as a pistol, and two live cartridges.
Separate Tip-Off Nets Career Criminal with Illegal Weapon
In a parallel but unrelated operation, the police arrested a 25-year-old man with a prior criminal history. The accused, Raja Manjhi, was taken into custody near LIG Colony in the Agamkuan area based on a specific tip-off received by the authorities.
Manjhi, who has a documented record in theft and robbery cases, was found in possession of an illegal firearm. The police team seized a pistol and one live cartridge from him during the arrest, preventing potential future crimes.
Operation Muskaan Brings New Year Cheer to Dozens
Striking a positive note to mark the beginning of the New Year, SP Parichay Kumar, along with Sadar ASP Abhinav Kumar, presided over a special ceremony under Operation Muskaan. In this public-friendly initiative, the officers personally distributed 33 recovered mobile phones to their owners, reuniting them with their valuable property.
This dual approach by the Patna Police—combining stringent action against active criminals with compassionate efforts to restore stolen goods—highlights a comprehensive strategy towards law enforcement and public service in the city.
