The prime accused in the Meja triple murder case, Himanshu Yadav, sustained gunshot injuries during a police encounter late Tuesday night after allegedly attempting to escape custody. Police had taken him to Paranipur Road to recover the murder weapon, according to officials.
Himanshu Yadav, 21, a resident of Kukurkatwa village, was admitted to SRN Hospital for treatment. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Yamuna Nagar) Vivek Chandra Yadav confirmed that Himanshu's brother, Ankit Yadav, and accomplice Nihal Gautam, 21, who allegedly assisted in the crime, have also been arrested.
Additionally, police arrested gram pradhan Guddu Yadav, who reportedly mediated a truce between the victim's family and Himanshu about four months ago. He was allegedly pushing for Himanshu's marriage with a girl from the victim's family.
The triple murder occurred on Tuesday morning when three elderly members of a family—Shyam Lal alias Kalloo, 65, and his sisters-in-law, Amravati Devi, 58, and Indravati Devi, 60—were found murdered outside their home in the Meja area. Shyam Lal's wife, Phoolkali, who suffers from mental illness, was spared.
Police revealed that Himanshu was in a relationship with Shyam Lal's niece and wanted to marry her, but the proposal faced opposition from the family. During questioning, Himanshu told police he met the girl at her grandmother's house on June 13, three days before the incident.
On Monday night, Himanshu arrived at the girl's house in an inebriated state and had an altercation with Shyam Lal. When the elderly man slapped Himanshu, he and his friend killed the three victims with a blunt object. Himanshu was arrested later that day.
