Property Dealer Found Hanging in Delhi's Vasant Kunj House, Suicide Suspected
In a tragic incident, a 49-year-old property dealer was found dead in his residence in South Delhi's Vasant Kunj on Monday, with police suspecting suicide by hanging. The discovery was made after authorities received a PCR call in the evening reporting an alleged suicide, prompting immediate action.
Police Break Into Locked House
Upon arrival, officers found the house locked from the inside, necessitating them to break the door open to gain access. Inside, the man was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan using a plastic rope, with his body in a partially decomposed state. The body was subsequently shifted to Safdarjung Hospital for further examination and post-mortem procedures.
No Suicide Note Found, Foul Play Ruled Out
Despite the absence of a suicide note, police have ruled out any foul play in the case. A senior police officer stated, "Prima facie, no suspicion has been raised so far regarding the death. The deceased was later identified by family members. Statements of the family and neighbours were recorded during the inquest proceedings, and no suspicion was raised by them regarding the circumstances of the death." This indicates that initial investigations point towards a self-inflicted act.
Background of the Deceased
According to police reports, the man had been living separately from his family for nearly a year following a separation from his wife. This personal turmoil may have contributed to the tragic outcome, though authorities are awaiting post-mortem results to determine the exact time and day of death. The investigation remains ongoing, with police continuing to gather details to understand the full context of the incident.
The case highlights ongoing concerns about mental health and personal crises in urban settings, underscoring the need for community support and awareness. As Delhi grapples with such incidents, this event serves as a somber reminder of the challenges faced by individuals dealing with personal separation and isolation.
