A 34-year-old property dealer, Ranjit Chauhan, was brutally killed late Monday evening in Kamalpur Chandaura village under Bilari police station. Four assailants, led by Ajay Kumar, first shot him and then attacked him with an axe.
Incident Details
Ranjit was on an evening walk near a government primary school when the attackers surrounded him. He managed to run about 200 meters and sought refuge in Mukesh Pal's house, but the assailants chased him inside and killed him in front of family members.
Neighbors rushed in after hearing screams, but the attackers fled. Ranjit's brother and relatives took him to Bilari community health centre, where doctors declared him dead.
Police Investigation
Moradabad Superintendent of Police (Rural) Kunwar Akash Singh said the murder stemmed from personal enmity linked to a love affair, noting Ranjit's relationship with the sister of the prime accused.
A murder case has been registered against Ajay Kumar and three others, and police teams are pursuing the absconding accused.
Background
The killing follows a quarrel between Ranjit and Ajay two months earlier. Ranjit, who ran a property business in Moradabad, is survived by his wife Neha, son Daksh, mother Premvati, and brother Pinku Chauhan.
