A minor argument over the popular online game PUBG has spiraled into a shocking incident of violence in Roorkee, leaving a father and his teenage son critically injured. The assault occurred on Saturday in Lathardeva village, located under the jurisdiction of the Jhabreda police station, highlighting how digital conflicts can spill over into real-world brutality.
Details of the Violent Incident
According to police reports, the victims, identified as Javed Ahmed (40) and his son Junaid (16), were attacked in full public view by a group of villagers. The assailants allegedly dragged them to the ground and assaulted them with dangerous weapons including spades, sticks, and iron rods. Both Javed and Junaid sustained serious head injuries in the brutal attack.
Following the assault, the injured duo was initially rushed to Roorkee Civil Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Due to the severity of their injuries, they were later referred to the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh for specialized care and further treatment.
Police Response and Investigation
The incident gained widespread attention after a video of the assault surfaced on various social media platforms. Prompted by this visual evidence, police authorities have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against nearly two dozen individuals involved in the attack.
The FIR includes serious charges under sections related to rioting and attempt to murder, reflecting the gravity of the offense. Police officials have confirmed that the accused persons have reportedly gone into hiding following the incident, and extensive search operations are currently underway to apprehend them.

Investigations reveal that the violent dispute originated from an argument between the minor sons of Javed Ahmed and his neighbor, Nasim, while they were playing the online battle royale game PUBG. Although village elders had previously intervened and brokered a compromise between the families, underlying tensions allegedly persisted in the community.
The situation reached a boiling point on Saturday morning when Javed Ahmed was attacked while heading to the local market. His teenage son Junaid was subsequently assaulted when he attempted to intervene and protect his father from the violent mob.
