Pune Crime Branch Recovers Eight Pistols, Arrests Three

The arrest of a delivery person with a firearm in Pimpri on April 29 led the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch to recover eight more country-made pistols and 46 cartridges, and to arrest three more accused.

Police Investigation Unfolds

Police investigation revealed that the arrested men had brought these firearms from a criminal on the police records from Western Maharashtra. Assistant Police Commissioner (Crime) Vishal Hire stated, "We are investigating why these accused were carrying such a large number of firearms."

Initial Arrest and Handover

The Pimpri police, on April 29, arrested the delivery person Azaharuddin Sutar (30) in Pimpri and recovered a country-made pistol from him. The investigations were later handed over to the crime branch.

Further Arrests Made

A crime branch team led by Senior Police Inspector Narendra Thakare arrested three more men: Vaibhav Shete (31) of Thergaon, Saurabh Jadhav (27), and Akshay Kamble (31), both from Pashan.

Background of the Accused

Assistant Police Inspector Dattatreya Gulig said that all the accused are connected to each other. Shete runs his own social media management business, Jadhav works as an estate agent, and Kamble is a daily-wage worker. Gulig added, "These arrested men do not have a previous criminal record. Our investigations are ongoing."
