In a significant breakthrough, the Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch has successfully cracked a series of 12 burglaries with the arrest of three hardened criminals. The dramatic arrest occurred near the Somatane toll plaza on the Pune-Mumbai highway on November 27.
Dramatic Highway Arrest and Firing Incident
The police team confronted the suspects near Talegaon Dabhade. In a bold attempt to evade capture, one of the accused opened fire at the officers using a country-made pistol. Fortunately, no police personnel or bystanders were injured in the exchange. The authorities managed to subdue and apprehend the trio without any casualties.
Following the arrest, a thorough search led to the recovery of critical evidence. The police seized two country-made pistols, seven live cartridges, a substantial quantity of gold jewellery, and a car. The vehicle was reportedly stolen from a residential building in the Hinjewadi area.
Notorious Offenders with Extensive Criminal History
The arrested individuals have been identified as seasoned criminals with a long history of offences across multiple jurisdictions. The police revealed their identities and staggering record counts:
- Sunnysingh Dudhani (24) from Hadapsar: 71 criminal cases
- Jalsingh Dudhani (32) from Hadapsar: 56 criminal cases
- Manish Kushwaha (28) from Morena, Madhya Pradesh: 71 criminal cases
This brings their combined criminal record to a staggering 198 registered cases with the Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and Pune Rural police forces.
Confession and Recovery of Stolen Valuables
During custodial interrogation, the gang confessed to their involvement in a recent crime spree. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shivaji Pawar stated, "The gang admitted to their involvement in 12 recent burglaries in Pimpri Chinchwad. We recovered gold and silver jewellery worth Rs 29.4 lakh from them."
The solved cases include two burglaries registered with the Pune city police and ten registered across various police stations under the Pimpri Chinchwad jurisdiction. DCP Pawar confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover further details and possible connections to other crimes.
Arrest of Receivers of Stolen Goods
In a follow-up operation, the police netted three more individuals allegedly involved in disposing of the stolen property. Those arrested are:
- Kirpan Singh Dudhani (37) from Maval
- Shantaram Kamble (30) from Maval
- Akshay Chanal (30) from Maval
According to the police, this trio purchased the stolen gold and silver jewellery from the main accused. Kirpan Singh Dudhani alone has 23 criminal cases registered against him at several police stations, indicating his established role in illicit activities.
This coordinated crackdown highlights the police's focus on dismantling not just the perpetrators of theft but also the networks that enable them to profit from their crimes. The Pimpri Chinchwad crime branch's operation marks a crucial victory against organised burglary rings operating in the region.
