A 52-year-old Nayab tehsildar of Junnar, Ananta Gawari, died after his car collided head-on with a dumper on the Otur-Junnar Road at Pangarimatha village, approximately 88 kilometers from Pune, on Saturday afternoon.
Accident Details
According to Otur police, the accident occurred around 2:30 PM when Gawari's car was traveling from Otur towards Junnar, and the dumper was coming from the opposite direction. At a sharp turn near Pangarmatha, the two vehicles collided head-on. Gawari, along with two other occupants of the car, Vijay Khartode (48) and Korade, sustained injuries.
Injuries and Fatalities
Gawari was initially taken to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries while being transferred to Pune for advanced treatment. Khartode and Korade are currently undergoing treatment at a hospital, and their conditions are reported to be stable.
Legal Action
The police have taken the dumper driver into custody. The dumper belonged to a stone-crushing firm. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the accident and whether any negligence was involved.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers of sharp turns and heavy vehicles on rural roads. Authorities urge drivers to exercise caution, especially on narrow roads with limited visibility.
