Kanpur Railway Employee Dies by Suicide After Theft Accusations
Railway Employee Ends Life After Colleagues' Theft Allegations

A tragic incident has shaken the community in Kanpur Dehat, where a 45-year-old railway employee ended his life on Thursday morning. The man, identified as Vijay Pal Paswan, was found deceased outside his village, prompting a police investigation into the circumstances that led to this extreme step.

A Disturbing Discovery and a Heartbreaking Video

Vijay Pal Paswan, a resident of Hridaypur village under the Gajner police station area, left his home around 7:30 am on Thursday, telling his family he was heading for his railway duty. However, he did not reach his workplace. Instead, his body was later discovered hanging from a tree on the outskirts of the village.

Upon receiving the information, police personnel swiftly arrived at the spot and initiated an investigation. The body was sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. The case took a poignant turn when the victim's elder son, Arun, revealed that his father had recorded a video message before taking his own life and sent it to him.

The Allegations That Led to Despair

In the video, Vijay Pal Paswan narrated his story, which pointed to a deeply distressing situation at his workplace. According to his son Arun, three of his father's colleagues had accused him of theft. This allegation had severely disturbed the 45-year-old assistant electrician, who worked for the Indian Railways.

The weight of the accusation appears to have become unbearable for Paswan, leading him to make the tragic decision. His son's statement forms a crucial part of the police probe, highlighting potential workplace harassment or false allegations as a central motive.

Police Investigation and Official Statement

The local police are treating the case with seriousness, basing their initial investigation on the content of the video recorded by the deceased. Station House Officer Janardan Pratap Singh confirmed the details, stating that Vijay Pal was indeed an assistant electrician in the railways.

"Investigation is being conducted based on the video made before committing suicide. Action will be taken on receiving a formal complaint," said SHO Singh. This indicates that the police are awaiting a formal complaint from the family to proceed with legal action against those named in the video.

The incident raises serious questions about the mental well-being of employees and the impact of workplace allegations. As the investigation continues, the family and community mourn the loss of Vijay Pal Paswan, whose death underscores the need for supportive work environments and mechanisms to address employee grievances.
