Red Fort Blast: 4 Aides of Umar Nabi Get 10-Day NIA Custody
Red Fort blast: 4 accused get 10-day NIA custody

In a significant development in the Red Fort blast case, a Delhi court has sent four close associates of prime suspect Umar Nabi to 10-day custody with the National Investigation Agency (NIA). The decision came after the anti-terror probe agency sought 15 days for custodial interrogation of the accused.

Court Proceedings and Custody Decision

Principal District and Sessions Judge Anju Bajaj Chandna delivered the verdict at Patiala House Court in New Delhi on Thursday, November 21, 2025. The court granted the NIA 10 days of custodial access to the four accused, rejecting the agency's initial plea for a 15-day interrogation period.

The four individuals sent to NIA custody are identified as Muzammil Ahmad Ganai, Adeel Ahmed Rather, Shaheen Saeed Ansari, and Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay. All four are described as close associates of Umar Nabi, who allegedly drove the i20 car that exploded near Red Fort on November 10.

Arrest Timeline and Previous Detentions

The investigation reveals a detailed timeline of arrests preceding the NIA takeover. According to official records, Mufti Irfan Ahmad Wagay was the first to be arrested by Jammu and Kashmir Police on October 27.

Muzammil Ahmad Ganai was taken into custody on October 29, followed by Adeel Ahmed Rather on November 5. The final arrest among the four, Shaheen Saeed Ansari, occurred on November 10 - the same day as the Red Fort blast incident.

The NIA took custody of all four accused in Srinagar earlier on Thursday before producing them before the Delhi court.

Expanding Investigation and Previous Arrests

An NIA spokesperson confirmed that the agency is moving expeditiously with its probe into the terror attack. The investigation has already seen the arrest of two other individuals connected to the case.

Amir Rashid Ali, in whose name the explosive-laden car was registered, and Jasir Bilal Wani alias Danish, who provided technical assistance to the terrorists, were previously taken into NIA custody.

The November 10 blast near the historic Red Fort sent shockwaves through the national capital, prompting an intensive multi-agency investigation. The NIA's continued custodial interrogation of the four new suspects indicates the agency believes they possess crucial information about the terror network behind the attack.

Security agencies remain on high alert as the investigation unfolds, with authorities emphasizing their commitment to uncovering the complete conspiracy behind the Red Fort blast.
