A devastating road accident in Jamui district has resulted in the deaths of a retired Central Industrial Security Force officer and his daughter-in-law, while four other family members sustained serious injuries. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday when the family was returning from a wedding reception.

The accident took place on the Chakai-Deoghar main road near the Basbutiya turn within the jurisdiction of the Chandramandi police station. According to police reports, the car carrying six family members suddenly veered out of control and collided with a eucalyptus tree by the roadside around 3 am on Sunday.
The impact of the collision was so severe that the vehicle sustained extensive damage, leading to the immediate deaths of two occupants. Police officials have identified the deceased as 70-year-old Krishnandan Singh, who retired as a CISF sub-inspector in 2019, and his 40-year-old daughter-in-law Rinku Devi.

Chandramandi Station House Officer Gajendra Kumar provided crucial details about the incident. "Preliminary investigation suggests the accident occurred because the driver fell asleep at the wheel," he stated. The vehicle was being operated by Krishnandan's son, Lalan Kumar, a professional contractor who was among the injured.
The police officer elaborated on the sequence of events: "After the reception ended, the entire family was returning to Deoghar by car. Near Basbutiya turn, the car suddenly went out of control and collided with a eucalyptus tree. The collision was so severe that the car was badly damaged and two people died on the spot."

The family had traveled from their residence in Deoghar, Jharkhand, to Kaithwara village in the Sikandra area of Jamui to attend the wedding of Krishnandan's nephew, Rahul. The wedding reception had concluded shortly before the family began their return journey.
Krishnandan Singh had served with distinction in the CISF before his retirement four years ago. Rinku Devi had married Lalan Kumar in 1997, and the couple had built a family with four daughters and one son, their youngest child being just 10 years old.
