Rickshaw Puller Arrested for Fatal Dhaba Attack in East Delhi
Police arrested a 26-year-old rickshaw puller on Sunday for allegedly killing a man in East Delhi's Geeta Colony. The incident occurred after a heated argument at a local dhaba.
Violent Altercation Leads to Death
The victim, identified as Danua, was a 36-year-old pot maker and part-time rickshaw puller from Hathras district in Uttar Pradesh. According to police, Danua and the accused, Bunti, arrived together at the roadside eatery on Saturday evening. Both men consumed liquor before an argument erupted between them.
During the altercation, Bunti allegedly picked up a wooden log lying nearby. He struck Danua on the head with force, causing him to collapse immediately. Danua began bleeding from the mouth and later succumbed to his severe head injuries.
Police Response and Investigation
Police received a PCR call around 9:49 pm on Saturday reporting a man lying in a pool of blood in Mahila Colony of Gandhi Nagar. Officers rushed to the spot and found Danua dead with critical head wounds.
The crime team inspected the scene thoroughly. They sent the body to Guru Tegh Bahadur Hospital for post-mortem examination. Khushi Ram, a 62-year-old who runs the dhaba, provided a statement detailing the events leading to the fatal attack.
Arrest and Legal Proceedings
Police arrested Bunti, a resident of Aligarh district in Uttar Pradesh, within hours of the incident. They recovered the wooden log used as the weapon of offence. Authorities registered a murder case at Geeta Colony police station.
Investigations are currently underway to determine the exact cause of the argument and gather additional evidence. The swift arrest highlights police efforts to address violent crimes in the capital.
