SCR Secunderabad Division Launches Intensive Fire Safety Drive Until Feb 8
SCR Fire Safety Drive: Checks on Flammables, Smoking

The Secunderabad division of South Central Railway has launched a major fire safety and anti-smoking campaign. This intensive drive will continue until February 8. Its primary goal is to stop people from carrying flammable items on trains. The initiative also aims to make railway premises much safer for all passengers.

Widespread Inspections Underway

Railway authorities are conducting targeted checks at multiple locations. So far, inspectors have covered 43 luggage and brake van coaches. They have also visited 25 railway yards, washing lines, and pit lines. Pit lines are special facilities used for coach maintenance. Additionally, the drive includes inspections at 17 different railway stations.

Focus on Flammable Materials and Smoking

The campaign places special emphasis on preventing dangerous items from being brought onto trains. Officials are specifically looking for unauthorised gas cylinders, explosive materials, and flammable cans. They have already registered two separate cases against individuals for violating tobacco-related fire safety rules.

Ensuring Clear Pathways and Electrical Safety

Inspectors are making sure that coach corridors, doorways, and pantry passages remain completely clear of obstructions. The ban on flame-based cooking and smoking is being strictly enforced. Teams are also checking electrical systems to eliminate hazards. They are removing loose wires, fixing bypassed fuses, and sealing any gaps in electrical panels.

Testing Detection Systems and Signage

A crucial part of the drive involves testing fire and smoke detection equipment. Officials are verifying that these systems work properly in coaches, pantry cars, and power cars. They are ensuring that sensors are clean and unobstructed. Furthermore, all necessary fire safety and 'no smoking' signs are being checked and displayed correctly.

This comprehensive effort by the Secunderabad division demonstrates a strong commitment to preventing fire incidents. By addressing multiple risk factors, the railway aims to create a safer travel environment for everyone.
