Belagavi: State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) CPI Shrishail Chougale, 37, was discovered dead at his residence in the Chennamma Nagar area of Belagavi in the early hours of Thursday. According to police sources, Chougale had locked himself inside a room in his house, prompting his wife to alert SDRF personnel. The staff rushed to the scene, broke open the door, and rushed him to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Investigation Underway
Police stated that the exact reason behind the alleged suicide has yet to be determined. A case has been registered at the Udyambag police station, and further investigation is ongoing. Authorities are examining all possible angles, including personal and professional stressors, to uncover the circumstances leading to the incident.
Father's Statement
Speaking to media, Mahesh Chougale, the deceased officer's father, expressed shock and grief. He revealed that Shrishail was due for promotion to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) next month and was highly respected within the department. “He had a good reputation in the department and was also leading a happy family life. His son studies in Class 3, and his daughter is in UKG. There did not appear to be any tension or problem. Despite that, this incident has happened. Only God knows what led to it,” he said.
The tragic event has sent shockwaves through the local community and the SDRF unit. Colleagues and neighbors described Chougale as a dedicated officer and a loving family man. The police are conducting a thorough investigation, including questioning family members and colleagues, to piece together the events leading to his death. No suicide note has been recovered so far.
