Thiruvananthapuram: A 62-year-old security guard lost his life in a hit-and-run accident early Sunday morning in Kilimanoor. The deceased has been identified as Babukuttan, a resident of Nagaroor. He was employed as a security staff member at a Royal Enfield showroom located in Pappala along the MC Road.
Accident Details
According to preliminary information, the incident occurred around 6 am. Babukuttan had just completed his night shift and stepped onto the road when a speeding minivan reportedly struck him. The driver fled the scene without stopping. Locals immediately rushed the injured man to a hospital using a 108 ambulance. He was first taken to Kadakkal taluk hospital and later transferred to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to severe head injuries.
Investigation Underway
Police sources revealed that the vehicle involved is suspected to be a minivan bearing a Thrissur registration. It is also learned that the occupants of the vehicle were returning after visiting the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple at the time of the accident. The Kilimanoor police have launched an intensive investigation. Authorities are examining CCTV footage from the area to identify and trace the vehicle. Efforts are underway to track down the driver who fled without offering assistance to the victim.
