The Singappen Special Force (SSF), launched by Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay on June 9 to enhance the safety of women and children in Tamil Nadu, conducted its inaugural consultative meeting with non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in Chennai on Friday.
Meeting chaired by IG of Police
The meeting was chaired by Inspector-General of Police, SSF, K Bhavaneeswari, and saw participation from representatives of 38 NGOs. The primary objective was to strengthen collaboration between the SSF and NGOs, and to gather suggestions for improving safety measures for women and children across the state.
NGOs share recommendations
During the discussions, NGO representatives shared their experiences and offered recommendations on various aspects, including awareness programmes, victim support services, preventive interventions, and community outreach activities. The insights provided are expected to help shape the SSF's strategies.
Emphasis on cooperation
Bhavaneeswari stressed the importance of cooperation between law enforcement agencies and NGOs, highlighting the need for continuous information sharing and community participation. Police officials stated that the SSF would continue working with NGOs and other agencies to strengthen its outreach and response mechanisms.
