In a decisive crackdown on illegal activities, the Supaul Police in Bihar conducted a major raid at a hotel in Patna, leading to multiple arrests and significant seizures. The operation, based on specific intelligence, underscores the police's commitment to curbing gambling and related crimes in the district.
Major Haul in Late-Night Hotel Raid
Acting on a tip-off, a special team from the Supaul Police force raided a hotel located at Lohia Chowk on Friday night. The swift operation resulted in the arrest of 10 individuals who were actively involved in gambling activities at the premises. The police team did not stop at the arrests and proceeded to confiscate a substantial amount of evidence and assets from the scene.
Cash, Cards, and Vehicles Seized
The list of seized items paints a picture of a well-organized gambling operation. The most notable seizure was Rs 6.25 lakh in cash, indicating the high stakes involved. Alongside the money, police recovered a variety of personal and gaming items:
- 12 mobile phones
- 21 ATM cards
- 5 PAN cards
- 14 sets of playing cards
Furthermore, the police impounded two cars and two motorcycles, suggesting the accused had arrived at the location using these vehicles.
Police Vow to Continue Strict Action
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sharath RS addressed the media following the successful raid. He confirmed the details of the operation and issued a stern warning to those involved in illicit activities. The SP stated that strict action would continue not only against gambling but also against other social evils like drug abuse and any other illegal activities within the Supaul district.
This raid is part of a broader initiative by the Bihar Police to maintain law and order and deter citizens from participating in unlawful betting and gambling rings, which often have links to larger criminal networks.
