Surat Grapples With Sixth Murder in Less Than Two Weeks

Two brutal murders rocked Surat on Monday, intensifying worries about the city's deteriorating law and order situation. These killings represent the sixth homicide in Surat within a mere twelve-day period.

Builder Hacked to Death in Katargam

In the first incident, Vipul Mandani, a 40-year-old builder, faced a fatal attack in broad daylight. The assault occurred around 3:30 PM on Monday in JKP Nagar Society, which falls under Katargam police station jurisdiction.

Mandani, who lived in Sarthana, visited the area for work. Unidentified assailants, numbering two or three, engaged him in an argument. The dispute quickly turned violent.

Police reports indicate the attackers used sharp weapons to stab Mandani repeatedly. They fled the scene immediately after the assault.

Despite sustaining grave injuries, Mandani managed to contact his business partner, Raju. He informed Raju about the attack before collapsing.

Local residents rushed to help him. They called an ambulance which transported him to a nearby hospital. Doctors at the hospital declared him dead upon arrival.

Mandani's family members staged a protest following the murder. They demanded the strictest possible punishment for those responsible.

Police have identified Ajay Solanki and two other individuals as suspects. Authorities are actively working to apprehend them.

Tempo Driver Fatally Stabbed in Dindoli

The second murder involved 40-year-old Ramkrishna Patil, a tempo driver. This incident took place on Sunday evening in Narottamnagar Society, located in Dindoli area.

Investigators believe the attack originated from an earlier altercation in the locality. Two youths, Kamlakar Rule (23) and Yash Shinde (21), had intervened in a quarrel earlier that day.

During that intervention, witnesses saw them assaulting some men. The duo left the spot but returned approximately thirty minutes later.

They came back armed with knives. Rule and Shinde allegedly attacked Patil and his nephew, Rahul Patil.

The assault inflicted serious injuries on both victims. Emergency services rushed them to a hospital for treatment.

Ramkrishna Patil succumbed to his wounds during medical care. His nephew remains hospitalized and continues to receive treatment.

Dindoli police have arrested both accused individuals. They registered a murder case against them.

Further investigation is currently underway. Police are working to determine the precise motives behind both crimes.
