A forty-year-old woman faced police detention in Surat following allegations of assaulting a young boy. The incident occurred in a housing society located within the Sarthana police station area.
Details of the Alleged Assault
Police reports indicate the woman resides in the C-3 block of Silicon Residency. On the evening of January 9, around ten o'clock, a group of children engaged in a mischievous act. They repeatedly rang her apartment doorbell and then ran away, a prank commonly known as "ring and run."
Irritated by the continuous disturbance, the woman descended to the society premises where the children were playing. According to authorities, she singled out a seven-year-old boy after other children identified him as the one who rang the bell.
Violent Confrontation and Injuries
The woman allegedly beat the child and dragged him to the society's parking area. The boy sustained injuries to multiple parts of his body during this altercation.
When the boy's mother confronted the woman about the assault, she reportedly threatened to repeat her actions if the child continued to disturb her. This confrontation escalated the situation further.
Police Intervention and Viral Footage
The boy's parents subsequently approached Sarthana police. They submitted CCTV footage capturing the incident, which later went viral on social media platforms. This video evidence played a crucial role in the case.
Sarthana police inspector B B Karpada provided details about the investigation. "We detained her after she admitted to the act," Karpada stated. The woman was later released on bail after offering an apology.
Apology and Assurance
As part of the resolution, the woman recorded a video message. In it, she assured authorities she would not behave in this manner again. She also appealed to parents and children to avoid such pranks in the future.
