TDP MLA's Gunmen Assault Toll Plaza Staff in Annamayya

In a disturbing incident in Annamayya district, gunmen of Kalyandurg TDP legislator Amilineni Surendra Babu allegedly assaulted toll plaza staff at Gandaboyinapalli under Valmikipuram mandal on Saturday. The altercation reportedly began over payment of toll fees.

Allegations of Assault

The toll plaza staff accused the MLA's followers of picking a fight over toll fees and later assaulting the manager, Ravi. They claimed that even a female staff member, Srilatha, was not spared; she was pulled by her hair and beaten. Ravi was reportedly pushed into one of the escort vehicles and taken away.

MLA's Version of Events

As videos of the incident went viral, Surendra Babu stated that he was returning to Kalyandurg after offering prayers at the Tirumala temple. He alleged that the toll plaza staff behaved rudely and did not allow his vehicle to pass through, making him wait for nearly 10 minutes even though his staff was ready to pay the fees. He claimed his staff retaliated only when the toll plaza staff attempted to attack them.

The MLA refuted claims that the manager was forcibly abducted, saying his staff took Ravi to Vayalpadu police station. During interactions with the police, they learned of numerous complaints about the behavior of some toll plaza staff, including a recent incident where they stopped a DIG-rank police officer's vehicle and misbehaved similarly.

Resolution

Surendra Babu further stated that the issue was resolved after the toll plaza manager and his staff tendered an apology.
