Three Individuals Arrested in Karwar for Allegedly Circulating Viral Video Connected to Pharmacist's Tragic Suicide

In a distressing development, police in Karwar have taken three people into custody on Saturday for their alleged involvement in spreading a video that is suspected to have led a local pharmacist to take his own life. The arrests were made by Ankola police, who apprehended Subhash, Harishchandra, and Anil, all residents of Wailawada in Karwar taluk, following a thorough investigation.

Details of the Tragic Incident and Viral Video

The case revolves around the untimely death of Rajeev Pikle, who was associated with Pikle Nursing Home. On Friday, Pikle allegedly shot himself with a double-barrel gun at his residence in Aversa village, located in Ankola taluk. Police authorities have linked this tragic event to a video that went viral approximately 15 days prior to the incident.

The controversial footage was reportedly recorded at the hospital while Pikle was on duty. It captured a heated confrontation over allegations that a staff member had administered an expired tablet to a patient. This video quickly spread across various social media platforms, sparking widespread outrage and condemnation from the public.

Aftermath and Police Investigation

Despite efforts to mitigate the situation, the video continued to circulate online. Pikle and other hospital staff members later issued a public apology and clarified that the incident was an unintentional error. However, the persistent circulation of the video allegedly caused Pikle severe mental distress, which police believe contributed to his decision to end his life.

Based on a formal complaint filed in connection with the case, police registered an official case and launched a detailed investigation. This probe ultimately led to the arrests of the three individuals, who are accused of deliberately making the video go viral. The authorities are treating this as a serious matter, emphasizing the potential consequences of irresponsible social media behavior.

Following the incident, Pikle's last rites were performed in Karwar after a postmortem examination was conducted on Saturday. The police have assured that further investigation is ongoing to uncover all aspects of this case and ensure justice is served.
