The Kannagi Nagar police in Chennai arrested three men, including a key suspect in a drug peddling network, following a raid at Masjid Nagar on Saturday. The operation led to the seizure of 1.5 kilograms of ganja and 40 narcotic tablets.

Police Raid and Arrests

Acting on a tip-off, a police team led by Inspector S Saravanan conducted a raid and apprehended Vignesh alias Vigna, 30, and Velayudham, 23, both residents of Kannagi Nagar. During interrogation, the accused revealed that they procured the ganja from the Retteri area in North Chennai and sold it in packets of 10 grams for ₹500 each.

Broken Links to Mumbai

Further investigation uncovered that the gang also sourced narcotic tablets and other contraband from Mumbai for distribution in Chennai. The police team subsequently tracked down an absconding suspect, Premkumar, 24, identified as a key supplier in the network.

Legal Proceedings

All three accused were produced before a magistrate court and remanded in judicial custody. The police continue to investigate the broader drug network operating in the city.
