A 35-year-old healthcare trainer was found dead with a bullet injury on the rooftop of a college in Uttar Pradesh's Maharajganj district on Thursday, police said.
Incident Details
The body of the victim, identified as Ravi Yadav, was discovered by students and staff of the private college around 8 am. He was a trainer in the healthcare department and had been missing since Wednesday evening.
According to police, a single bullet wound was found on his temple, and a pistol was recovered near the body. The college rooftop is located in the Sonbarsa area of Maharajganj.
Family Allegations
Family members of the deceased alleged that Yadav was murdered and demanded a fair investigation. They claimed he had no history of depression or suicidal tendencies and was happy with his job.
"He was a cheerful person and had no reason to take such a step. We suspect foul play and want the police to probe all angles," said his brother, Sunil Yadav.
Police Investigation
Superintendent of Police (SP) Maharajganj, Dr. Vipin Mishra, said that a forensic team has been called to examine the scene. "We are investigating the case from all angles. The post-mortem report will reveal the exact cause of death," he said.
Police have registered a case under Section 174 of the CrPC (unnatural death) and are questioning college staff and students to ascertain the sequence of events.
Background
Ravi Yadav was employed as a trainer under the National Health Mission and had been working at the college for the past two years. He lived with his family in a nearby village.
The incident has sparked protests by local residents and colleagues, who demanded a thorough probe and strict action against those responsible if murder is proven.
