A tragic road accident on Thursday night resulted in the death of a 26-year-old man after a speeding truck collided with his two-wheeler on the Thiruvanaikoil Road Over Bridge (ROB) in Srirangam, Trichy. The victim, identified as S Akash from Thambikottai in Thanjavur district, was employed at a two-wheeler showroom on Thiruvanaikoil Trunk Road.
Details of the Fatal Incident
According to police reports, the accident occurred around 8 PM on Thursday when Akash was returning to his room in the Chathiram bus stand area. While he was approaching the Thiruvanaikoil ROB on his two-wheeler, a desludging truck, which is a septic tank cleaner vehicle, attempted to overtake him from behind at high speed. The truck struck Akash's two-wheeler, causing him to fall from the bike.
The impact was severe: Akash's helmet broke upon hitting the ground, and he sustained critical head injuries. Eyewitnesses at the scene immediately rushed him to the Trichy Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital (MGMGH) for emergency treatment. However, despite their efforts, doctors declared him dead on arrival, confirming the fatal nature of the injuries.

They have registered a case against the truck driver, identified as M Rajkumaran, a 34-year-old resident of Valadi near Lalgudi.
