Tragic Accident in Jalaun: Car Collides with Motorcycle Before Plunging into Canal

A devastating road accident in Jalaun district resulted in two fatalities and left two others seriously injured on Wednesday. The incident occurred in the Kotra police station area, where a car first collided with a motorcycle before losing control and falling into a canal.

Details of the Fatal Collision

The deceased have been identified as Jitendra Singh (50) and his relative Indrapal Singh (70), both residents of Pachipura village. According to police reports, the two men had traveled to Kotra early Wednesday morning at approximately 4 am to purchase medicines. They were returning home around 11:30 am when their car collided with a motorcycle at the Karthara turn on the Kotra-Ait road.

The motorcycle was being ridden by Riyaz Mirza from Ganeshganj, with his wife as the pillion rider. Following the collision, both Riyaz and his wife sustained serious injuries. Police investigation revealed that Jitendra Singh, who was driving the car, panicked upon seeing a crowd gathering at the accident site and accelerated the vehicle.

Vehicle Plunges into Canal

Approximately 2 kilometers from the initial collision site, at the Binaura canal bridge, the car went out of control and fell into the canal. Local residents immediately alerted the authorities, prompting swift police response.

Kotra police station in-charge Vimlesh Kumar arrived at the scene with a police team and coordinated rescue operations. A JCB machine was deployed to extract the submerged vehicle from the canal.

Medical Response and Aftermath

The two seriously injured men from the car were rushed to Orai Medical College via ambulance. Unfortunately, medical professionals at the hospital declared both Jitendra Singh and Indrapal Singh dead upon arrival. Police authorities subsequently sent both bodies for post-mortem examination.

Riyaz Mirza provided his account of the incident, stating that he and his wife were traveling on the motorcycle to attend a wedding when a speeding car struck them from behind. The injured couple received medical attention for their serious wounds.

Background of the Victims

Indrapal Singh served as the trustee of the Lal Kothi Ashram branch, while Jitendra Singh Gurjar was engaged in agricultural activities. Police have taken custody of both bodies and are currently recording statements from eyewitnesses to reconstruct the complete sequence of events.

The tragic incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety in the region, particularly on the Kotra-Ait road stretch where the collision occurred. Authorities continue their investigation into the exact circumstances that led to this fatal chain of events.
