Two separate and tragic accidents involving trains claimed the lives of two individuals in Bihar's Jamui district on Friday. The incidents occurred near the outer signal of the busy Jhajha-Kiul rail section, falling under the jurisdiction of the Malaypur police station area.
Details of the Fatal Incidents
According to officials, the two fatal accidents happened approximately 0.5 kilometers apart. The first victim was identified as Palli Singh, aged 45. Preliminary investigations by the Government Railway Police (GRP) indicate that Singh was crossing the railway tracks when he was struck by a speeding train.
The second victim remained an unidentified man, believed to be around 55 years old. Local residents were the first to alert the Jamui railway police and the local police station about both tragic events.
Police Investigation and Response
Malaypur GRP personnel swiftly reached the locations after receiving the information. The bodies of both victims were sent to Jamui Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Manoj Dev, the in-charge of Jamui GRP police station, confirmed that the Malaypur police station is leading the investigation into the incidents. Malaypur SHO Vikas Kumar Singh provided initial insights, stating, "Prima facie, the possibility of death appears to be hit by a train. They could not have seen the trains while crossing the railway line."
Identification and Next Steps
While the body of Palli Singh has been identified, the second man remains unknown. SHO Vikas Kumar Singh added that the family in the first case was initially reluctant to allow a post-mortem, but the procedure was conducted after persuasion. Regarding the unidentified deceased, he stated that the body would be cremated after 72 hours if no relative or known person comes forward to claim it.
The GRP has taken formal cognizance of both cases and a detailed investigation is underway to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to these fatal accidents on the railway tracks.
