Tragic Road Accidents in Delhi Claim Two Lives
Two men lost their lives in separate road accidents across South and South-East Delhi over a two-day period. Police have registered cases of rash and negligent driving in both incidents. Investigations are currently ongoing to determine the exact circumstances.
First Accident in Madanpur Khadar
In the first tragic event, 28-year-old Tushar Kumar died on the night of January 10. The accident occurred near Shri Ram Chowk in Madanpur Khadar. According to police reports, Kumar was riding a motorcycle with his friend Sudhakar Singh when the vehicle skidded into a ditch.
Sudhakar Singh provided a detailed statement at Kalindi Kunj police station. Singh explained they were searching for a missing relative on the motorcycle. He described how they encountered dogs while riding through an open field near the Yamuna river. Kumar accelerated to escape the animals, but the motorcycle's lights were not working. The vehicle hit a mud mound, skidded, and fell into a ditch.
Singh sustained injuries to both hands during the fall. Kumar suffered a severe head injury. Family members rushed Kumar to Holy Family Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Singh later underwent a medico-legal examination at Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital as directed by police.
Second Incident on Tigri Road
Two days later, another fatal accident occurred on Tigri Road. 58-year-old Fakeer Khan died after being struck by a tractor-tanker while crossing the road. His 28-year-old son reported the incident to police.
The son received a phone call around 7:30 pm informing him about the accident. When he reached the scene, locals were pulling his father from under the vehicle's tyre. The family alleged that the tractor owner, identified as Santosh, moved the vehicle away from the scene while they were trying to transport the injured man to hospital.
Fakeer Khan was taken to Safdarjung Hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. His family subsequently called police from the hospital and demanded legal action against the driver for rash and negligent driving.
Police Response and Investigation
Police have registered formal cases in both incidents based on eyewitness statements. Authorities confirmed that investigations are actively underway for both accidents. The cases focus on determining whether rash driving or negligence contributed to these tragic deaths.
These back-to-back accidents highlight ongoing road safety concerns in Delhi. The incidents occurred in different parts of the city but shared similar tragic outcomes. Police continue to gather evidence and statements as part of their investigative process.
