Two Habitual Offenders Arrested for Assaulting Bus Driver

Kattakada police on Saturday arrested two habitual offenders, including an accused in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) case, for allegedly assaulting a KSRTC bus driver following a road rage incident at Thoongampara. The accused were identified as Ajin Kumar and Umesh, both residents of Thoongampara.

Accused Have Criminal Records

According to police, Kumar is an accused in an attempt-to-murder case and a case registered under the Pocso Act. Umesh has a history of criminal offences and was previously booked under the Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (Kaapa). He is also included in the police’s rowdy list.

Incident Details

The incident occurred on Friday when the accused allegedly blocked the path of a KSRTC bus plying on the Kattakada-Neyyattinkara route with an autorickshaw. They claimed that the bus failed to give way on the road, police said. The two men then boarded the bus and picked up a quarrel with the driver. They allegedly abused and physically assaulted him in front of passengers, creating panic in the vehicle.
