In a significant development in a high-profile murder case, the Gurgaon police have arrested two individuals accused of supplying the illegal firearms used to kill Delhi-based property dealer Rohit Shaukeen last year. The arrests bring the total number of people apprehended in connection with the case to twelve.
Key Arrests Made at Gangana Bus Stand
The Manesar crime branch team apprehended the two accused on Thursday from the Gangana bus stand in Sonipat district. They have been identified as Amit alias Meeta (25) and Washu (23), both residents of Gangana village. According to police officials, the duo confessed to providing two illegal pistols on the instructions of known gangster Sunil Sardhania.
The weapons were allegedly handed over to Vinod alias Pahalwan and Shakti, who later used them to execute the murder. Police have also recovered a two-wheeler that was used during the commission of the crime.
A History of Violent Crime
Investigations reveal that the arrested individuals have a history of involvement in serious crimes. Amit is a habitual offender with two murder and assault cases already registered against him in Sonipat, and an attempt-to-murder case in Jind. His accomplice, Washu, has a previous assault case filed in Sonipat as well.
The brutal killing took place on August 4, 2025, on Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) in Gurgaon's Sector 77. Rohit Shaukeen (39), an associate of singer Rahul Yadav alias Fazilpuria, was shot dead while travelling in a car he had borrowed from his elder brother earlier that day.
Sequence of Events and Previous Arrests
Shaukeen had told his brother he was heading to Noida. The victim's brother was informed around 8:57 PM on the fateful day that Rohit had been shot. By the time the brother reached the spot, police had already shifted Rohit to a government hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
Police have stated that the murder was a result of old enmity. Prior to these latest arrests, the police had already taken into custody ten other individuals linked to the case. Those arrested earlier include Shubham, Sudeep, Gautam, Shakti, Kamal, Kuldeep, Vinod, Padam, Sunil Sardhania, and Ashish.
The meticulous investigation by the Manesar crime branch continues to unravel the layers of this complex case, highlighting the persistent efforts to curb the supply of illegal arms and bring perpetrators of violent crime to justice.
