Fatal crash on Palkot road claims two lives

A panchayat sewak returning from his son’s wedding was among the two persons killed when he lost control of his four-wheeler and crashed into a tree on the Palkot road early Saturday, police said.

Victims identified

The deceased were identified as Kaleshwar Sahu (54), a resident of Longa village under Basia police station limits and posted as panchayat sewak of Chundari panchayat in Ghaghra block, and his Delhi-based relative Dinbandhu Sahu (52).

According to Tarun Kumar, the officer in-charge of the Palkot police station, Kaleshwar was brought dead to Palkot Community Health Centre (CHC), while Dinbandhu succumbed on the way to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (Rims) in Ranchi.

Three injured hospitalized

The three injured individuals are currently admitted at Gumla Sadar Hospital, receiving medical treatment. The accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday when the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the road and hit a tree.

Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the crash. Further details are awaited as the families of the deceased have been informed.
