Two Men Hung Upside Down from Tree in UP, Three Arrested

In a shocking incident in Shishowali village under the Gajraula police station area of Amroha district, two men accused of theft were allegedly hung upside down from a eucalyptus tree for over seven hours by a group of villagers. Police have arrested three accused in connection with the incident.

Details of the Incident

According to police, Deepak Kumar (29), a resident of Bhuddewali village, and his brother-in-law Daalu (23), a resident of Naya Bans, had allegedly gone to purchase illicit liquor on Tuesday night when an argument broke out with some villagers. The dispute escalated, and a group of 10 to 12 men allegedly assaulted the duo, accused them of theft, tied their hands, and hung them upside down from a tree at around 2 am. Police reached the spot around 9:30 am on Wednesday and rescued the two men.

Police Action

Police have arrested three accused — Mahipal Singh, Charan Singh, and Nandram — in connection with the incident. A purported video of the incident later surfaced on social media, which is being used to identify the remaining accused. Villagers alleged that the duo had come to steal an electric shock device installed in fields to keep stray animals away. Police said the allegation is being verified and efforts are underway to identify others involved in the assault.
