UP DGP Virtually Inaugurates Mission Shakti Skill Workshop in Bareilly Range
Director General of Police Rajeev Krishna inaugurated a Mission Shakti skill workshop virtually on Thursday. This workshop was organized by the Bareilly range to enhance the effective functioning of mission centres. It also aims to strengthen the prevention of crimes against women.
Workshop Covers Four Districts
The workshop covered all four districts of the Bareilly range. These districts include Bareilly, Budaun, Pilibhit, and Shahjahanpur. Senior police officials and administrative leaders participated in the event.
DGP Emphasizes Trust and Training
Addressing the programme through video conferencing, Krishna stressed the importance of Mission Shakti centres. He said these centres must evolve as a trusted brand. Continuous training, simplified standard operating procedures, and adequate resources will further strengthen their impact.
Krishna highlighted that sensitivity, patience, and attentive listening form the backbone of Mission Shakti centres. He noted that the first ten minutes of interaction with a survivor are critical. Non-judgmental listening, empathy, and respectful conduct often become the most effective tools for resolution.
Tangible Outcomes and Crime Reduction
Citing tangible outcomes of awareness drives and pre-FIR counselling, the DGP said the initiative contributed to a marked reduction in social offences. He reported a significant decline in elopement-related cases. There was nearly a thirty-three percent drop in rape cases. Dowry deaths saw around a thirteen percent reduction.
These figures underline how dialogue, sensitivity, and community outreach can complement strict action against offenders. Krishna expressed confidence in the ongoing efforts.
Collaborations and New Initiatives
Krishna said Mission Shakti centres are working in close coordination with district legal services authorities. This coordination ensures free legal aid for women in need. Partnerships with government and private hospitals were established to provide timely medical assistance.
He also announced a new initiative to improve outreach and mobility. Efforts are underway to provide four scooters per police station for Mission Shakti teams. This move aims to enhance the teams' ability to respond quickly and reach remote areas.
Key Speakers at the Event
Key speakers included ADG Bareilly zone Ramit Sharma. Bareilly divisional commissioner Bhupendra S Chaudhary also addressed the gathering. DIG Bareilly range Ajay Kumar Sahni and ADG women & child security organisation Padmaja Chauhan were present.
District magistrate Avinash Singh and senior superintendent of police Anurag Arya also spoke at the event. Their participation underscored the collaborative approach to women's safety in the region.
