Security Heightened Across Western UP Following Deadly Delhi Blast
Security measures have been significantly intensified across western Uttar Pradesh after a powerful explosion near Delhi's Red Fort claimed at least 13 lives and left several injured on Monday evening. The tragic incident has triggered a statewide security alert, prompting immediate action from law enforcement agencies.
Multi-City Security Operations Launched
Police personnel across multiple districts initiated comprehensive security protocols on Tuesday, conducting extensive foot patrols and thorough inspections at major religious sites, railway stations, and crowded public areas. The security net covered key cities including Agra, Mathura, Firozabad, Etah, and Kasganj following the statewide alert.
In Agra, security teams focused their efforts on critical transportation hubs, conducting detailed checks at Agra Cantt and Agra Fort railway stations. Additional security measures were implemented around the Taj Mahal's east gate, with senior police officers taking direct command of field operations.
Agra DCP (city) Sayyed Ali Abbas confirmed the security escalation, stating, "The alert has been sounded at all police stations. Senior officials are personally patrolling key areas, and we are maintaining strict monitoring of social media platforms."
Senior Leadership Directs Security Operations
The security response saw active participation from top police officials. ACP (Sadar) Imaran Ahmed led inspection teams at Agra Cantt, overseeing passenger and coach checks, while ACP (Taj security) Piyoosh Kant Rai managed security operations in the sensitive Taj security zone.
Additional police deployments were strategically positioned at bus stands, major markets, and other high-footfall areas to ensure public safety and maintain vigilance.
In Mathura, the security apparatus was similarly activated, with SSP Shlok Kumar and DM CP Singh jointly reviewing security arrangements at crucial religious sites including Shri Krishna Janmbhoomi and Banke Bihari Temple.
SSP Kumar informed Times of India, "A comprehensive alert is currently in effect across the state. In Mathura, I have conducted joint inspections with the DM at all key locations. Continuous security checking is ongoing at transport hubs and temples, with all our field units maintaining active duty status."
Comprehensive Security Measures Implemented
Similar security protocols and intensified patrolling were reported from Firozabad, Etah, and Kasganj, where senior police officers personally supervised inspections at railway stations, bus stops, and religious establishments.
The security deployment included specialized units, with dog squads and bomb detection teams being activated at several sensitive locations. Police officials confirmed that the heightened security vigil would continue indefinitely until further instructions are received.
The deadly explosion occurred just one day after Delhi Police made significant arrests, capturing two men including one from Etah in Uttar Pradesh, who were allegedly part of a suspected Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP)-inspired module. Investigators revealed that the arrested individuals were planning attacks in the capital and had been radicalized through online channels.
In a parallel operation, Gujarat ATS arrested a third suspect - a doctor from Hyderabad. Officials emphasized that these arrests resulted from long-term surveillance operations and are not directly connected to the Red Fort explosion incident.
