Vadodara Crime Branch officers have successfully cracked a series of two-wheeler thefts plaguing the city's industrial zones. Their investigation led to the arrest of two individuals involved in stealing motorcycles and scooters from designated parking areas.
Tip-Off Leads to Arrest of Notorious Thief
Police received specific information about Durgesh Thakore, a resident of Chhani, who was actively engaged in vehicle theft. Crime branch sleuths swiftly apprehended Thakore while he was in possession of a stolen motorcycle. During questioning, Thakore confessed to his recent return to stealing two-wheelers.
Targeting Vulnerable Parking Spots
Thakore revealed his modus operandi to investigators. He specifically targeted parking spaces near Genda Circle and the Fatehgunj flyover. These locations are commonly used by employees and workers who commute to nearby towns or industrial areas for their jobs.
Many of these commuters park their two-wheelers at these spots before boarding company buses or other shared transportation to reach their workplaces. This pattern made their vehicles vulnerable to theft during working hours.
Long History of Criminal Activity
Durgesh Thakore is no stranger to such offences. Police records show an extensive history of similar crimes. Authorities have registered thirteen separate cases against Thakore between 2017 and 2023 for vehicle theft-related activities.
Uncovering the Disposal Network
Further interrogation revealed Thakore's connection to an accomplice. He admitted to stealing multiple two-wheelers and handing them over to Noman Vohra from the Hathikhana area. Crime branch officers promptly arrested Vohra based on this information.
Vohra's arrest proved crucial to the investigation. He led police to three additional stolen motorcycles. When questioned about his role, Vohra disclosed that he had scrapped one motorcycle and passed another to someone else for disposal.
Previous Criminal Record of Accomplice
While no prior vehicle theft cases were registered against Noman Vohra, he does have a criminal history. Police records indicate Vohra was previously accused of abetment of suicide in an unrelated matter.
The Crime Branch's breakthrough demonstrates their effective response to criminal activities affecting daily commuters. Their actions have disrupted a theft operation that specifically exploited the parking habits of industrial area workers.
