A serious security incident occurred in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, where the Vande Bharat Express operating on the Nagpur to Indore route was targeted in a stone-pelting attack shortly after departing Ujjain Railway Station on May 25, 2026. The incident took place in the Gada Pulia area under the Ratlam Railway Division.
Damage and Response
The attack resulted in damage to multiple coaches, with window panes and pillar glasses shattered. Fortunately, railway officials confirmed that no passengers were injured during the incident. Following the attack, authorities launched a search operation in the surrounding area and registered a case against unidentified individuals.
Investigation Underway
Railway officials are now reviewing CCTV footage and other surveillance inputs to identify those responsible. Investigations are ongoing, with all possible angles, including mischief and sabotage, being examined. The incident has once again raised concerns over safety and security of high-speed train operations in the region.
