A range forest officer (RFO) in Vapi was arrested on Friday on charges of sexually harassing a contractual woman employee at the range forest office, according to police.

Incident Details

The complainant, who works as a computer operator on a contractual basis, was on duty when the RFO returned from the field. According to the First Information Report (FIR), the officer asked the woman to open the rest rooms near the office premises. After entering one room, he allegedly began calling her repeatedly, raising issues about files kept there and pressing her to come inside.

The woman entered the room to verify the matter. Suspecting something unusual, she turned on her phone for safety and remained in contact with another forest official while checking the room. When she turned off her phone to leave, the RFO allegedly blocked her path and demanded sexual favours. Upon her refusal, he reportedly tried to grab her.
