VHP, Bajrang Dal to Oppose Karnataka Govt's Move to Lift Hijab Ban in Schools
VHP, Bajrang Dal Oppose Hijab Ban Withdrawal in Karnataka

Mangaluru: Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) Pranta Sahakaryadarshi Sharan Pumpwell stated that the VHP and Bajrang Dal will stand in solidarity with those opposing the state government's move to withdraw the ban on hijab inside educational institutions.

Response to Government's Decision

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Sharan warned that if attempts were made to provoke students in the name of hijab and disturb peace and harmony in the district, VHP and Bajrang Dal workers would also take to the streets and decide on their course of action.

Calling the government's stand "appeasement politics", he claimed that instead of protecting the sanctity of schools and colleges, the government was trying to undermine it.

Support for Saffron Shawls

Sharan further said that if any students wished to wear saffron shawls, the organisations would support them. Referring to the earlier hijab row, he noted that there were no major untoward incidents reported in Dakshina Kannada during the controversy over the ban on hijab inside classrooms.

The VHP and Bajrang Dal have vowed to resist any move that they perceive as compromising the secular and harmonious environment of educational institutions in the region.
