The Vigilance Investigation Bureau (VIB) apprehended a senior cooperative officer on Friday while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a Primary Agricultural Cooperative Society (PACS) chairman in Sasaram. This marks the 44th trap of corrupt officers in the state in 2026, as confirmed by Director General (VIB) J S Gangwar.

Details of the Operation

The operation took place in Rajpur block under the leadership of DSP Akhilesh Kumar Singh. The accused, identified as Janardan Kumar, was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe near a hospital within the Rajpur police station area, according to an official statement.

Background of the Complaint

The action was initiated following a complaint filed by Prashant Kumar, who alleged that the officer had demanded the bribe to submit a favorable physical verification report related to paddy procurement. After verifying the complaint, the VIB team laid a trap and arrested the accused immediately after he accepted the money.
