Wanted Criminal Anuj 'Doctor' Arrested After Encounter in Kharkhoda
The Sonipat Special Task Force arrested a wanted criminal named Anuj alias Doctor on Wednesday night. The arrest followed a dramatic encounter in the Kharkhoda area. Police officers took Anuj into custody after he sustained a bullet injury to his leg.
Illegal Pistol Recovered from Accused
Authorities recovered an illegal country-made pistol from Anuj's possession. The encounter unfolded when STF Inspector Yogender led a police team to Pratap Dairy. They acted on specific information about the suspect's movements in that location.
When the STF attempted to apprehend him, Anuj allegedly opened fire at the officers. He then tried to flee the scene. In retaliatory action, the STF fired at his legs to stop him. This brought the situation under control.
Multiple Criminal Cases and Reward
Anuj comes from Gokalgarh village in Rewari district. The Rewari police had announced a reward of ₹5,000 for his capture. He faces at least six criminal cases registered against him.
These cases include serious charges like murder and attempt to murder. Other charges involve offences under the Arms Act and cases related to narcotics trafficking. Anuj had been absconding for a considerable period before this arrest.
Connection to Abduction and Murder Case
Police revealed Anuj's role in a sensational abduction and murder case in Rewari. The incident occurred on October 15, 2025. The victim, Ankit, was kidnapped and brutally assaulted.
Ankit was admitted to hospital in critical condition. He later succumbed to his injuries during treatment. Authorities described the crime as pre-planned and part of a criminal conspiracy.
Anuj went underground after this incident. He successfully evaded repeated police raids until Wednesday's encounter.
Details of the Encounter
During the encounter, ASI Rajender fired two rounds targeting Anuj's legs. This action came after Anuj continued firing at the police team. The injured accused received immediate medical attention.
Police admitted Anuj to the government hospital in Kharkhoda for treatment. Authorities registered a case against him for attacking police personnel and obstructing official duty.
Recent Police Actions in the Region
This arrest follows other recent police encounters in the area. The Rewari CIA arrested four criminals during an encounter near Meerpur University. That operation took place on the night of January 10-11.
Another encounter occurred on Monday night. The Dharuhera CIA and Gurugram STF collaborated in that operation. They arrested Sonipat resident Jai Bhagwan alias Sonu.
Jai Bhagwan is a history-sheeter with twenty-one cases against him. These include ten murder charges. Rewari DSP Surender Sheoran stated that searches continue to trace other accused linked to the criminal network.
