A critical witness in an ongoing real estate fraud case in Greater Noida has come forward with a harrowing account of being threatened at gunpoint to prevent him from testifying in court. Following judicial intervention, the Expressway police station registered a First Information Report (FIR) against unidentified individuals on Wednesday.
The Core Fraud: A Mismatched Building Plan
The case originates from a disputed property transaction in JP Greens, Greater Noida, in 2020. According to the complainant's court application, Vivek Malhotra, a manager at Elcomponics Sales Private Limited, detailed the fraud. The company, owned by Satyanarayan Dwivedi, purchased a plot from four men: Sanjeev Shekhar, KC Batra, Mukesh Chopra, and Vikas Chaudhary.
The plot was formally handed over on March 14, 2020. Problems erupted when Elcomponics began constructing a villa on the land. The company discovered a critical discrepancy: the building plan supplied by the sellers did not match the official plan sanctioned by the Greater Noida Authority. This mismatch allegedly caused the company a substantial financial loss of nearly Rs 47 lakh.
Consequently, the company owner, Satyanarayan Dwivedi, filed a formal complaint at the Beta 2 police station on April 19, 2025. As the legal process unfolded, Vivek Malhotra was listed as an independent witness in the sub judice matter.
The Alleged Intimidation: A Highway Confrontation
The situation took a dangerous turn on November 21, 2025. Malhotra stated that while traveling from Sector 168 towards Greater Noida for official work, two men on a motorcycle overtook his vehicle and forced him to stop. The assailants then allegedly subjected him to verbal abuse, physical assault, and a direct threat to his life. They warned him to withdraw from his role as a witness in the fraud case.
Deeply shaken by the incident, Malhotra approached the local police seeking protection and justice. However, he claims no concrete action was taken at the police station level. With no other recourse, he sought the intervention of the court, presenting his application detailing the threats.
Legal Repercussions and Ongoing Probe
The court's orders led to the immediate registration of an FIR at the Expressway police station. Authorities have confirmed that the case is now officially under investigation. This development highlights the severe attempts to obstruct justice in a significant financial fraud case.
The sequence of events underscores a troubling pattern: from an alleged Rs 47 lakh property fraud to the intimidation of a key witness. It raises serious concerns about the challenges faced by individuals testifying in financial crime cases in the National Capital Region. The police investigation will now need to uncover the identities of the men on the motorcycle and determine their connection to the original accused in the fraud case.
