Police in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh, have taken a woman into custody for her alleged involvement in a sophisticated honey-trap and blackmail scheme targeting a local resident. The arrest was made by officers from the Nahar Darwaza police station on Wednesday, following a formal complaint from the victim.
The Alleged Extortion Plot
According to the police, the complainant, Bhavesh Thakur, a resident of Rajoda, submitted a detailed written complaint. He stated that a woman, who identified herself using the names Paridhi and Ankita, deliberately trapped him in a relationship. After gaining his trust, she allegedly recorded obscene photos and videos without his full consent.
The situation escalated when the woman began using this compromising material to threaten Thakur. Her demands were substantial: Rs 50 lakh in cash along with half ownership of his land located on Bhopal Road. The complainant provided evidence to the police, including the objectionable photos and videos that were allegedly used to pressure him.
Police Action and Case Registration
Based on the complaint and the submitted evidence, the police registered a formal case. The charges include blackmail and other relevant offences. Station In-Charge Manju Yadav outlined the modus operandi, explaining that the accused first built a rapport with the victim before exploiting the situation for financial gain.
Following her arrest, the accused was sent for a medical examination at the district hospital, which is a standard procedural step in such investigations. Senior police officials, including SP Puneet Gehlod, are overseeing the case.
