Prayagraj: An FIR was registered against a female candidate on Wednesday for allegedly attempting to secure interview eligibility for a lecturer post using forged documents. She was detained by police for questioning.
Incident Details
According to officials, the incident occurred during the first shift of interviews, when the candidate appeared for the chemistry lecturer post at the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) office. She submitted a formal application claiming she had qualified for the written examination but was unable to download her interview call letter.
However, verification of official records revealed that she did not clear the written exam. Further scrutiny found that she had fraudulently altered her admit card by inserting the roll number of another candidate who successfully passed the chemistry lecturer’s written examination.
Interviews Underway
Interviews for the lecturer posts are currently being conducted by UPESSC in two shifts daily from June 15 to 27.
Commission’s Response
UPESSC chairman Prashant Kumar said the candidate made a “malicious attempt” to undermine the commission’s confidentiality, transparency and integrity by presenting forged documents. An FIR was lodged and she was handed over to the local police.
“The commission is committed to conducting examinations and interviews in a transparent, fair and upright manner. Any involvement in illegal activities will invite strict action under the UP Public Examination Act, 2024,” he said.
Legal Action
The commission emphasized that strict action will be taken against any illegal activities, in line with the UP Public Examination Act, 2024. The candidate now faces legal proceedings for her actions.
