A woman who was out on bail in connection with her husband's suicide has been charged with kidnapping her six-year-old daughter after police found the child at her home. The girl had been living with her grandparents since her father's death in 2025.
Incident Details
The child went missing while playing outside her grandparents' home in the Gulabni Bagh area of Tibba. After an extensive search, the family discovered that the girl's mother, Gulsafa, had taken the child with the help of an accomplice, Nukano.
Police rescued the girl from Gulsafa's home in Daba shortly after the grandfather, Mohammad Yameen, filed a complaint on June 17. The family expressed fears that Gulsafa might harm the child.
Background of the Case
According to the investigating officer, assistant sub-inspector Kamaljeet Singh, the girl had been residing with her grandparents since 2025 following the death of her father, Irfan, who died by suicide. Gulsafa had previously been arrested and released on bail after Irfan's family accused her of harassment, leading to a charge of abetment to suicide.
Legal Action
Police registered a first-information report (FIR) against Gulsafa and Nukano under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for wrongful confinement, kidnapping, and acting with common intention. A search is ongoing for both suspects.
